Flora J, Y12

Tennis

Congratulations to Flora who managed to get to the last 16 of the Junior Women’s Wimbledon tournament beating the number 7 seed in the first round and no 30 in the 2nd round before losing to the No 10 in the world 6-2, 6-4 in the 3rd round. She was the last remaining British girl and received some positive press during the tournament.

Flora was asked to meet the Princess of Wales on the men’s finals day which was a great honour for her and capped off a wonderful week at Wimbledon.
Flora is currently playing in Serbia before heading off to South Africa.

Liv Z, Year 8

Tennis
Liv is competing in her first year at U14 tournaments – officially being one year too young.
She has won two international Tennis Europe tournaments – one in the U14 and one in the U16 category.
Liv was selected to represent Great Britain at the U14 European Team Championships in France & Italy in July.
The team (3 GB players) qualified for the ITF World Team Finals in Prostejov, Czech Republic in August, competing against the top 16 teams. Among them were the US, Australia, South Korea, Japan, etc.
Great Britain won Bronze.
The highlight for Liv this Summer was playing in the U14 Wimbledon Championships as the youngest player in the field competing against the top 16 U14 tennis players in the world.  A big milestone on Liv’s pathway!

Giselle F, Year 8

Tennis
Well done to Giselle who reached the quarter finals in Cat 2 Tennis Europe, beating an Italian girl with a Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) of over one point higher than her. She started playing International Tennis Federation ITF competitions (up to 18 years old) and managed to qualify for the main draw after winning her qualifiers against two girls, both two or three years older than her and with higher rankings.
This year Giselle is planning more ITF tournaments with a focus on development rather than points chasing and playing up against older and stronger players.

Esme H, Year 8

Football

Well done to Esme, whose football team finished as runners up after a particularly close match in the final earlier in May.
Esme is pictured here with her team with Rachel Yankey OBE (the legendary England Lioness and ex Arsenal player) who presented the award. Ms Yankey gave a hugely inspirational talk on the day.

Grace also qualified for Irish Nationals in Limerick in July and brought home five gold medals with two personal bests in 200 freestyle and 200 fly.
She is now 10th in the country for her age group for 100 butterfly, qualifying for upcoming nationals later in the year. Well done Grace!
